Description

The Huawei NetEngine AR6280-S is an enterprise-class modular router from Huawei’s NetEngine AR6000-S series, designed for organizations requiring high-performance WAN routing, SD-WAN, security, VPN, MPLS, and scalable network services.

The router provides 14 × 10GE optical interfaces, which can be switched to GE optical interfaces, together with 8 × Gigabit Ethernet electrical ports. Huawei specifies that the WAN interfaces can be configured as LAN interfaces, providing flexibility for different enterprise network architectures.

With up to 320 Gbit/s switching capacity and 60–220 Mpps forwarding performance, the AR6280-S is designed for demanding enterprise traffic environments. Huawei’s specifications also identify a recommended capacity of approximately 2,000 PCs for wired deployments, making it suitable for large branches, campus egress, and enterprise headquarters environments.

The AR6280-S integrates multiple networking services, including routing, switching, SD-WAN, VPN, security, and MPLS. This enables organizations to consolidate several WAN and network functions into a single enterprise platform.

For expansion, the platform provides 4 SIC slots, with 2 WSIC slots by default and up to 6, as well as 2 XSIC slots by default and up to 4. This modular architecture allows additional interfaces and service modules to be installed as network requirements evolve.

The router also supports integrated wireless access controller functionality, with support for management of up to 128 access points, including four APs without additional licensing according to Huawei’s published product specifications.

The AR6280-S uses a 16-core processor, 8 GB memory, and 2 GB flash. It is housed in a 2U chassis measuring approximately 88.1 × 442 × 470 mm, with independent pluggable fan modules and support for redundant power configurations.
