Description
The Juniper Networks SRX340 is an enterprise-grade next-generation firewall (NGFW) and secure services gateway from the SRX300 Series. It is engineered for midsize branch offices and distributed enterprise environments where organizations need to combine network security, routing, switching, and WAN connectivity within a compact rack-mounted platform.
The SRX340 provides 16 built-in Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, consisting of 8 × RJ-45 ports and 8 × SFP ports. All 16 network ports support MACsec, providing an additional layer of protection for Ethernet traffic. The platform also includes four Mini-PIM expansion slots, allowing additional WAN, wireless, and connectivity interfaces to be installed according to deployment requirements.
Security performance reaches 4.7 Gbps maximum firewall throughput, while IPsec VPN performance is rated at 733 Mbps. Juniper specifies 400 Mbps recommended IPS performance and up to 256,000 concurrent IPv4/IPv6 sessions, making the SRX340 suitable for significantly larger deployments than the entry-level SRX300.
The SRX340 runs Junos OS, providing advanced routing and switching capabilities alongside its security functions. It supports IPv4 and IPv6 networking, VLANs, MPLS, L2/L3 VPNs, multicast, dynamic routing, and policy-based routing. The platform supports up to 2,000 VLAN IDs, 15,000 MAC addresses, and 1,024 IPsec VPN tunnels.
For advanced security, the SRX340 supports intrusion prevention, application visibility and control, application-aware policies, antivirus, antispam, enhanced Web filtering, URL filtering, SecIntel threat intelligence, and Juniper Advanced Threat Prevention. Advanced security capabilities are available through applicable subscription licenses.
The SRX340 also supports Secure SD-WAN and Juniper Mist WAN Assurance, providing centralized visibility, WAN management, and simplified branch deployment. Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) can simplify installation at geographically distributed locations where local IT resources may be limited.
