The Fortinet FortiGate FG-40F is a compact Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) and Secure SD-WAN appliance designed for small businesses, branch offices, and distributed enterprise locations. It provides integrated firewalling, VPN, intrusion prevention, application control, threat protection, and SD-WAN capabilities in a compact desktop platform.
Description
The FortiGate FG-40F is part of Fortinet’s FortiGate 40F Series, built to combine network security and connectivity in a single appliance for branch and small-to-medium business environments.
Powered by FortiOS and Fortinet’s SoC4 security/SD-WAN ASIC, the FG-40F delivers accelerated processing for security and networking functions while maintaining a compact and power-efficient design. Fortinet positions the 40F family for distributed enterprise sites and secure SD-WAN deployments.
The FG-40F provides one hardware-accelerated Gigabit Ethernet WAN/DMZ port, three internal Gigabit Ethernet ports, and one Gigabit Ethernet FortiLink port. It also includes a USB port and RJ45 console connection. The standard FG-40F does not include built-in Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity; those capabilities are available on separate variants in the 40F family.
For security, the FG-40F supports firewalling, IPS, application control, SSL inspection, IPsec VPN, and advanced threat protection. Fortinet rates the platform at up to 5 Gbps firewall throughput, 1 Gbps IPS throughput, 800 Mbps NGFW throughput, and 600 Mbps threat-protection throughput, with actual performance varying according to configuration and enabled security services.
