Description
The Cisco ASA5515-K9 refers to the Cisco ASA 5515-X Security Appliance, part of Cisco’s ASA 5500-X Series of next-generation firewalls. It is designed to protect enterprise networks from external and internal threats while providing secure connectivity between corporate sites, remote users, and the Internet.
The ASA 5515-X integrates firewall, VPN, application visibility and control, intrusion prevention, and advanced security services into a single hardware platform. It is suitable for organizations that require a dedicated security gateway at the network perimeter.
The appliance provides eight integrated Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, giving administrators flexibility to configure interfaces for inside, outside, DMZ, management, and other security zones. The platform also includes expansion capabilities for additional networking and security requirements.
The ASA 5515-X supports Cisco’s Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) software, providing stateful firewall functionality, NAT, access control policies, site-to-site IPsec VPN, remote-access VPN, routing, and high-availability features.
When combined with appropriate Cisco security licenses and software, the platform can provide Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) capabilities through Cisco FirePOWER Services. These capabilities add application visibility and control, intrusion prevention, URL filtering, malware protection, and advanced threat detection.
The appliance is designed for 1U rack installation, making it suitable for server rooms, network cabinets, and enterprise data-center environments.
