The Cisco Catalyst C9300-48P-E is an enterprise-class PoE+ access switch from the Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series. It is designed to provide secure, high-performance wired connectivity while delivering power to compatible network devices through standard Ethernet cabling.

The switch features 48 × 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45 ports supporting IEEE 802.3at PoE+. Each PoE+ interface can deliver up to 30 watts of power, allowing the switch to directly power devices such as Cisco IP phones, wireless access points, IP cameras, IoT devices, and other PoE-enabled endpoints.

Unlike the C9300L series, the C9300-48P-E supports modular uplink network modules. This provides flexibility when connecting the access layer to aggregation or core infrastructure and allows organizations to select suitable uplink speeds and interface types according to their network architecture.

The switch runs Cisco IOS XE, delivering advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 capabilities including VLANs, trunking, STP/RSTP/MST, EtherChannel, IPv4/IPv6 routing, OSPF, EIGRP, VRF, QoS, multicast, and enterprise network segmentation.

The StackWise-480 architecture enables up to eight compatible Catalyst 9300 switches to operate as a single logical switching system. With up to 480 Gbps of stacking bandwidth, organizations can scale their access-layer infrastructure while simplifying management and improving resiliency.

Security capabilities include 802.1X authentication, port security, DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection, IP Source Guard, ACLs, MACsec encryption, and Cisco TrustSec. These features help protect connected endpoints and enforce identity-based network access policies.

The -E designation identifies the Network Essentials software package, providing Cisco’s core enterprise Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking capabilities.
