Description

The Juniper SRX340 combines enterprise networking, routing, switching, and security capabilities in a compact 1U rack-mount platform. It is designed for midsize distributed enterprises and branch-office deployments requiring flexible WAN connectivity, firewall protection, VPN services, and scalable interface expansion.

The chassis provides 16 integrated Gigabit Ethernet ports: eight RJ-45 1GbE ports and eight 1GbE SFP ports. All onboard network interfaces are MACsec capable. Four Mini-Physical Interface Module (Mini-PIM/MPIM) slots provide additional flexibility for WAN and LAN connectivity using compatible Mini-PIM modules.

The SRX340 includes 4GB of DRAM and 8GB of internal Flash storage, plus an internal AC power supply. The supplied rack-mount kit and power cable allow the unit to be installed in a standard rack environment.

This particular SRX340 hardware-only configuration does not constitute a complete software-enabled system. A compatible SRX340-JSB (Junos Software Base) or SRX340-JSE (Junos Software Enhanced) software configuration is required to complete the system.

Performance

The SRX340 platform is designed for branch and distributed-enterprise security deployments. Juniper documentation identifies firewall throughput of up to 3Gbps for the platform, while the Hardware Compatibility Tool provides more detailed performance figures depending on packet size and traffic type.

The platform supports up to 256,000 concurrent IPv4/IPv6 sessions and up to 1,024 IPsec VPN tunnels according to Juniper’s hardware specifications.

Compatibility & Expansion

The four Mini-PIM slots allow the SRX340 to be expanded with supported Mini-PIM interfaces for different WAN and connectivity requirements. Juniper identifies Mini-PIMs as field-replaceable components, although they are not hot-swappable and the gateway must be powered off before installing or removing them.
