Description

The Cisco Catalyst C9606R is the chassis platform of the Cisco Catalyst 9600 Series, purpose-built for business-critical enterprise campus core and aggregation deployments. It provides a modular architecture that allows organizations to select appropriate supervisor engines and line cards according to their required port speeds and network density.

The chassis contains six horizontal slots: two dedicated supervisor slots and four line-card slots. It supports redundant C9600-SUP-1 or C9600X-SUP-2 supervisor engines, allowing 1+1 supervisor redundancy for high-availability deployments.

The four line-card slots support a wide range of connectivity options, including 1Gb, 10Gb, 25Gb, 40Gb, 50Gb, 100Gb, and 400Gb interfaces, depending on the installed line cards and supervisor architecture.

With the C9600X-SUP-2, the chassis provides up to 6.4 Tbps per line-card slot and up to 25.6 Tbps total switching capacity. The platform also supports advanced high-availability technologies including Stateful Switchover (SSO), Non-Stop Forwarding (NSF), and In-Service Software Upgrade (ISSU).
