Description

The IBM Flex System EN2092 1Gb Ethernet Scalable Switch is an enterprise-class Ethernet switch module designed specifically for integration into the IBM Flex System modular infrastructure platform.

Installed directly into a compatible Flex System chasLLsis, the EN2092 provides centralized Ethernet connectivity for compute nodes and other chassis components. Its blade-switch architecture reduces cabling requirements by using the chassis’s internal midplane to connect server nodes to the network infrastructure.

The EN2092 is designed to deliver 1 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for server and network traffic while providing the management and switching functionality required in enterprise data-center environments.

The switch supports advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including VLAN segmentation, link aggregation, spanning-tree protocols, static routing, QoS, multicast, and network security features. These capabilities allow administrators to build segmented and resilient data-center networks while efficiently managing traffic between compute nodes and external network infrastructure.

The switch also supports link aggregation and high-availability configurations, helping improve bandwidth utilization and network resiliency. Multiple uplink connections can be used to connect the Flex System environment to external Ethernet switches and the wider enterprise network.

Because it is a Flex System switch module, the EN2092 is not intended to operate as a conventional standalone rack switch. Its functionality depends on installation in a compatible IBM Flex System chassis and connection to supported compute nodes and networking infrastructure.
