Fortinet’s current documentation identifies the FS-1024D as a 24-port GE/10GE SFP+ switch with dual AC power supplies.

24 × 10GbE SFP+ Connectivity

The FS-1024D provides 24 SFP+ interfaces, supporting both Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet operation.

These ports can be used for:

  • 10GbE server connections
  • Data center aggregation
  • Storage networking
  • Switch-to-switch uplinks
  • Firewall connections
  • Campus-core connectivity

FortiLink & FortiGate Integration

One of the major advantages of the FS-1024D is its integration with the Fortinet Security Fabric.

When connected to a compatible FortiGate through FortiLink, the switch can be centrally managed and monitored through the FortiGate interface.

FortiLink capabilities include:

  • Centralized switch configuration
  • Automatic switch discovery
  • VLAN configuration
  • Dynamic port profiles
  • FortiLink stacking
  • Secure Fabric integration
  • Device detection
  • Client monitoring
  • 802.1X authentication
  • Network segmentation
  • Security policy enforcement
  • Switch software upgrades
  • Port monitoring

Fortinet describes FortiLink as allowing FortiSwitch to function as a logical extension of FortiGate, combining network switching and security management in a unified architecture.

Standalone & Centralized Management

The FS-1024D can be deployed in standalone environments or integrated with Fortinet management platforms.

Supported management capabilities include:

  • FortiGate management
  • CLI
  • Web GUI
  • SNMP v1/v2c/v3
  • SNMPv3 traps
  • SSH
  • Telnet
  • REST API
  • Syslog
  • RMON
  • sFlow
  • SPAN/RSPAN/ERSPAN
  • Packet capture
  • SFTP/TFTP/FTP
  • IPv4 and IPv6 management

Fortinet also supports centralized management and zero-touch deployment for FortiSwitch platforms.

High Availability & Link Aggregation

The FS-1024D supports IEEE 802.3ad LACP and link aggregation groups of up to 24 ports.

This allows multiple physical interfaces to be combined into logical links for:

  • Increased aggregate bandwidth
  • Redundancy
  • Load distribution
  • Server uplinks
  • Switch-to-switch connections
  • Data center aggregation

The platform also supports Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation (MCLAG) for high-availability architectures.

Cut-Through Switching

A notable feature of the FS-1024D is support for cut-through switching mode in addition to the standard store-and-forward method.

Fortinet documents that the FS-1024D can forward packets as soon as they are received, reducing forwarding latency compared with waiting for the complete packet to be received.

This can be useful in environments where minimizing switching latency is important.

Power & Reliability

The FS-1024D uses dual hot-swappable AC power supplies, providing power redundancy for critical network deployments.

Specifications include:

  • 100–240V AC
  • 50–60 Hz
  • Up to 140 W maximum power consumption
  • Dual hot-swappable power supplies
  • Front-to-back airflow
  • 53.2 dBA maximum noise level
  • MTBF greater than 10 years

Important Compatibility Note

The FS-1024D is not a PoE switch and does not provide copper RJ45 access ports for end devices. Its primary network interfaces are 24 × GE/10GE SFP+ slots, so compatible SFP/SFP+ transceivers or direct-attach solutions are required for fiber/copper connectivity.

Also note that the FS-1024D is an older D-series platform. Fortinet’s later FS-1024E adds additional high-speed capabilities, including 40/100GbE QSFP interfaces, so the two models should not be treated as interchangeable.

Licensing & Support

The FS-1024D is the physical FortiSwitch hardware.

FortiCare support, FortiGuard-related services, and other optional support or licensing arrangements may depend on the exact sales SKU and deployment configuration.

For an online-store listing, only state that subscriptions, support contracts, or transceivers are included if they are explicitly part of the supplied package.
