Description
The Cisco ASR1001-X is part of the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers, engineered to deliver high-performance and highly scalable routing for demanding enterprise and service-provider environments.
The platform is designed for applications requiring high-bandwidth WAN aggregation, Internet edge routing, data-center interconnect, and secure VPN connectivity. It uses Cisco’s QuantumFlow Processor architecture and IOS XE software to provide hardware-assisted packet processing and advanced network services.
The ASR1001-X includes integrated Gigabit Ethernet connectivity and supports expansion through plug-in interface modules, allowing organizations to increase port density and adapt connectivity to changing network requirements. Depending on the configuration and installed licenses/modules, the platform supports interfaces ranging from 1Gbps through 10Gbps and higher-speed connectivity.
Security capabilities include IPsec VPN, firewall services, NAT, access control, and encryption, making the router suitable for secure enterprise WAN and Internet-edge deployments.
The platform also supports Cisco SD-WAN, providing organizations with an option to integrate high-performance routing into software-defined WAN architectures.
