Description

The Cisco Catalyst 4507R+E is a flexible, modular chassis designed for organizations requiring scalable Ethernet connectivity, high availability, and the ability to customize network capacity through interchangeable supervisor engines and line cards.

The chassis provides seven module slots. Slots 3 and 4 are dedicated to supervisor engines, allowing a redundant supervisor configuration, while slots 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7 are available for switching/line cards.

With compatible supervisor engines such as the Catalyst 4500E Supervisor Engine 7-E, 7L-E, 8-E, 8L-E, or 9-E, the WS-C4507R+E can provide up to 48 Gbps of bandwidth per slot.

The chassis is supplied with a fan tray for system cooling. Power supplies are not included and must be ordered separately according to the required system configuration and power budget. This product is also not a complete operational switch by itself. A supervisor engine, appropriate line cards, and one or more compatible power supplies are required to build a functioning Catalyst 4507R+E system.

Product Status

The Catalyst 4500E platform is a legacy/end-of-sale product family. Cisco subsequently positioned the Catalyst 9400 Series as a newer platform for corresponding enterprise campus deployments.
