The HPE Storage MSL2024 is an enterprise automated tape library designed for reliable backup, archiving, and long-term data protection. It provides 24 tape slots, supports up to 2 tape drives, and supports LTO technology including LTO-7, LTO-8, and LTO-9 in current-generation configurations. With LTO-9 media, it can provide up to 432 TB native capacity or 1.08 PB compressed capacity.
Description
The HPE StoreEver MSL2024 is a compact, rack-ready enterprise tape library designed to automate backup and archival operations while providing high storage density and long-term data protection.
The library contains 24 tape cartridge slots and supports up to two LTO tape drives. Current MSL2024 G4 configurations support LTO-9 Ultrium 45000 and LTO-8 Ultrium 30750, with LTO-7 also supported in the MSL2024 family. Drive interfaces include 12 Gb/s SAS for LTO-9 and 8 Gb Fibre Channel, depending on the installed drive configuration.
With two LTO-9 drives and 24 slots, the MSL2024 can provide up to 432 TB of native capacity or approximately 1.08 PB using 2.5:1 compression. Maximum native data transfer can reach 2.16 TB/hour with two LTO-9 drives.
The library includes an integrated barcode reader, removable magazines, configurable mail slots, and tool-free tape-drive upgrades. Remote management is available through its web-based management interface and HPE Command View for Tape Libraries (CVTL).
For data security, supported LTO generations provide hardware-based AES-256 encryption, helping protect backup data against unauthorized access. Encryption can be used while maintaining the tape drive’s normal compression and performance characteristics.
